WEDDING STORY NANCEE + RICH

"You have been in every prospect I have ever seen since – on the river, on the sails of the ships, on the marshes, in the clouds, in the light, in the darkness, in the wind, in the woods, in the sea, in the streets. You have been the embodiment of every graceful fancy that my mind has ever become acquainted with." - Charles Dickens

Every year there's a few weddings where we are so completely absorbed into the family that taking the photos is almost easy. There's so many details to how we do this job and most of the planning and preparation for the day happens days, weeks, and months before we show up on the big day but the one thing that you can't prepare for is emotion. There's no way to wrap your mind around the story from an inside perspective until you're watching it unwind right before you and for all of the ideas with light and texture and all of the tricks up my sleeve there's the ever present reality on a wedding day that everything can change in a split second. I'm not going to bore you with the processes that we go through to make sure we're prepared and ready for those moments but I will say this - just being inside the bubble gives you access to things you'd never see and never understand from the outside in.

Nancee + Rich are the kind of couple that so heavily value photography that they invested a good part of their time into making sure that we were involved. From their engagement shoot high up in the Rocky Mountains that Max flew out to shoot, to Nancee's absolutely stunning lake side bridal session with both her mom and (at the time) future mother in law in tow every time we got a camera on these two they were eager to see the results. This is by far my favorite part of the whole process right here. To see a couple so completely smitten with each other, and two families who accept and enjoy time together is amazing, and to watch a couple pray and laugh and dance together means the world to us, but this step is the best. Where we get to interupt their honeymoon for just a few minutes to help them relive just a sliver of the moments we were able to catch for them on such an enormous day.

We're going into this season with a few new tricks up our sleeves. Some new equipment, new ideas, and plenty of new locations to try it all out but so far I can certainly say that this has already been my favorite year yet. Every couple in 2016 has been warm and wonderful to work with and I sincerely hope that Nancee + Rich love these photos every bit as much as we loved taking them.
