Banff Canada Elopement Directors Cut

I’m not one to ever really blog the same session twice. But the truth is the pressure to release the photos I think people will like sometimes gets in my head. I realized a bit looking back through the initial blog about this trip to Banff that though I love every single photo - I was still trying to make sure I told the story. BUT in doing so, I cut out a few of my favorite images because I wasn’t sure how they fit into the story as a whole. REALITY CHECK MILES : the story isn’t mine to tell - I was just there to photograph it and tell it how I saw it. So call this the directors cut of one of my favorite trips I’ve ever been on. Melissa and I have done our fair share of traveling these days. From a large wedding on the “most beautiful beach in the world” at Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, to standing above the black sand beaches in VIK Iceland on an elopement we’ve seen a pretty large spread of landscapes. Sunrises and sunsets, clear water, 80mph winds (that tore the door off our little Suzuki in Hellnar Iceland), glaciers, downpours, snow storms (we did a wedding in a Blizzard in Taos, NM years ago) and the list goes on an on. This trip however deserves a second glance because what was unique here was having a couple who wanted us to just play. We had carte blanche to just be creative, to try things, to push boundaries and perhaps what I’m most proud of are the images that I shot caring much less about what my sensor could do, or the grain, or the light, and instead just tried to be creative. A lot of motion, a lot of blur, and a lot of grain happens when you shoot at 10:30pm up in the Canadian Rockys but it was what we wanted so we went for it. So here you go : the directors cut, my favorite images, my favorite moments, my favorites parts of one of my favorite trips. From behind the scenes images on the hikes, or before dinners, to random landscape shots that just stole my breath laid out for you because of what each shot is instead of the story it tells. So grateful for a range in clients and all of the ways we get to see things. A week now back from Connecticut, headed back to Boston this weekend, New York next week, Arkansas last Saturday, beginning to plan a trip to Norway to shoot with a couple that got married with us in Brooklyn a few years back the world is opening up in new and exciting ways each day because of these cameras.
