Perfectly Matched. Sarah + Matt's Wedding Story

"Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.”
“Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving”
 ― Kahlil Gibran

If you would have asked me in 2006 if I pictured myself holding the camera while a beautiful girl in a white dress walked down the aisle towards little Matt Abbot I would have laughed at you. I’ve known this family for a long time now. If you read this blog at all you know the name Dave. Dave is our videographer buddy who creates absolutely unbelievable videos for our couples and is a part of our LowePro team but is also Matt’s older brother. A few of you might know that I spent a short stint as a professor at John Brown University where Jeanie, Matt’s mom, was (for lack of a better way to put it) the glue that holds together the entire art department. If you’ve been a friend of mine for long enough to remember me in college (heaven help us all) you might remember me being a part of an incredible youth group ministry in Siloam Springs where Steve, Matt’s dad, was the head pastor. All four relationships completely unique to each other and yet all super important to me this family has been some of my biggest supporters for years now. It’s amazing to me to be just a few weeks past Dave + Amelia’s third anniversary and here I am getting to show off photos from Matt’s big day as well. I can sincerely say that this is a man after God’s heart. This big smile, huge hugs, and happy disposition are enough to light up a room but what makes Matt even more amazing to me is his intellect. This is a guy with a rare kind of knowledge and wisdom about the world around him that really does make him impressive to me. All that said - it would take a lot to me to find a girl who I think really can appreciate his quirks (there’s more than a few of them) and really match his intellect and wit (he’s one of the quickest and funniest people I’ve ever been around). Enter Sarah - Matt’s match. Toe for Toe with him in sarcasm, smarts, and fortunately much prettier. This girl is a complete match for the family and for Matt and though she holds her own around a group of very big personalities she also looks completely at home just in quiet moments where her and Matt can simply enjoy time together.

This day was such a blessing for me. Seeing Sarah turn into an absolutely stunning bride was amazing. And seeing Matt beam from ear to ear when he saw her made it just that much better. We’ve done a lot of Pratt Barn weddings over the years but the way that I was able to relax and enjoy this day left me feeling like I was shooting at a brand new venue to me. So grateful for both of these families and both of these two incredible people. It means so much to see friends find love and I am pretty excited to see where God takes these two in the years to come!
