Young Love. Katelyn + Zach's Connection Session

“When she was a child, my love carried a road-map in her hand the way other girls carried handkerchiefs. She always knew the way. Her feet were little wings. And her beautiful head was a compass.”
― Roman Payne

It’s amazing to me the way a young heart looks at love. Before the ridiculous stress of what grumpy people call the “real world” sinks into the core of a person love is all consuming. Before bills and paychecks, voting, jury duty, traffic, and responsibility sours a person - there’s so much love. The amazing thing to me is watching people grow old. Watching the way people change their capacity for love - as if them growing either opens them up for more of it, or closes them off to the concept. I can remember my Dad telling me once when I was a kid that age just tends to make a person a more exaggerated version of themselves. If that’s true I sincerely want to find myself old and wrinkled gripping the hand of the same woman I fell in love with when I was young and still jealous that I didn’t meet her even earlier.

Katelyn + Zach are that couple. They’re young, and anxious. I don’t want to belittle them in the slightest. They’re both hard working, both adults, and both completely understanding of the commitment they’re making to each other - but they’re not cynical about it. They’re excited. To talk to Katelyn about her wedding is probably the single fastest way to make her blush and yet to talk to Zach about his bride is equally as amazing. These two blew me away on this session. From the moment I met them they’ve been kind to each other. The kind of couple that truly finishes each other’s sentences but somehow never talks over the other one. Zach is as involved in planning the big day as Katelyn is and I can honestly say that the first time he sees her in that white dress and the gravity of what’s happening in front of him really hits him it’s going to be a picture perfect moment. Thank God for men who have the courage to serve our country, to lay their lives on the line for our freedom, and then also the morality and sense of self to know that there is a woman at home praying for him and proud of him. For every drop of courage in a guy like this there’s a gallon of strength in the woman behind him and there’s no doubt that these two will be an incredible influence on the people around them in the next few years.

I’m so honored to be a part of this wedding and so blessed to be able to show them off! Expect to hear me bragging more about them the minute they say “I do”.
